Ink Drawing of Sailboat on Water With Gulls by DH
I found two ink drawings by the same artist today at the Savers Thrift Store. Both are very finely detailed. This one shows a sailboat moored, and gulls flying. They are done one 8 inch x 10 inch card stock. But the drawing is only about 5.5 inches by 7.5 inches. The artist name is signed simply as DH and is dated ’79 (1979). The matting is old and a little stained, and the frames are cheap photo frames. They were priced at $3, but I got a 25% discount because she thought I was 55, so they really only cost $2.25 each.

Ink Drawing of Horse Drawn Carriage and House by DH
I found two ink drawings by the same artist today at the Savers Thrift Store. Both are very finely detailed. This one shows a horse drawn carriage going passed houses.

Pastel Drawing of Ballerina Lacing Up Her Pointe Shoe
I found this pastel painting today at a thrift store for $6. The exposed portion is about 11 inches by 14.5 inches. I can’t read the artist’s name but it sort of looks like it might be something like Sam Gaby or Sari Gaby. I don’t know. It is dated ’02 (2002). It came nicely matted and framed. There is a sticker on the back stating “Custom framing provided by Rochester Picture Framing Inc in honor of Edgar Degas: Figures in Motion”. I did a search and found that the Edgar Degas: Figures in Motion exhibit was at the Memorial Art Gallery from October 13th, 2002-January 5th, 2003. I am not sure if they had artists doing Degas inspired paintings for the show? Below is the artist’s signature

Painting of Red Flowers In A Purple Vase
I found this painting today at a Salvation Army store. It cost me $2. It measures 12″ x 16″ and appears to be painted on maybe linen paper. I am guessing it is acrylic. I can’t read the artists name. Maybe Berg, or Bay? Bry? The painting is very simple in style and is reminiscent of some Henri Matisse paintings. It was framed in a nice white frame.

J Carbone Charcoal Drawing of Two Sandpipers Flying Over Ocean Shore

I found this charcoal drawing today at the Savers Thrift Store. It was priced at $4.99, but the cashier gave me a 25% discount, with tax it cost just over $4. Afterwards I figured out that she thought I was a senior (55+). LOL I guess I am cheaper than I am vane. The drawing is signed J. Carbone. The two birds I believe are sandpipers. At least going through my bird book, that is what they look like. The drawing measures about 9″ x 12″ and came matted and framed.

Rolf Stecher Watercolor Painting of Window Garden
I found this watercolor painting today at a Goodwill for $4. It is signed R. Stecher, but there is a business card taped to the back with the artists full name Rolf Stecher. It has his address being in St. Catherine Ontario Canada. The painting is about 6″ x 8.5″ and was nicely matted and framed. I did a search on the artist and found a newspaper article. He’s about 87 years old now. He attended The Art School in Erfurt, Germany, in 1943 and the Art and Trade School in Zurich, Switzerland, from 1953 to 1955. He moved to Montreal in 1955 and became a baker. He retired in about 1982 and moved to St. Catharines. He became a member of the Parkway Artist Guild at the Niagara Parks Botanical Gardens and the St. Catharines Art Association. He teaches watercolor painting at the Residence des Aines in St. Catharines.

Sam Elton painting of boat docked on rough water

I found this painting at a Goodwill store for $3. I think it is oil with detail added with pencil. It shows a boat tied to the dock, and the water is pretty rough. There is a house on the hill in the background. There is also a person up there. The painting is signed Sam Elton. It measures about 9.75″ x 11″. It is not dated, but seems to be old. I would guess at 60’s or earlier, but that is just a guess.

Oil Painting of House on a Pond by Walt

I found this and another painting today for $5 at the Savers store near my work. I think it is an oil painting, but it might be acrylic. It’s a small painting done on an 8″ x 10″ canvas. The scene is a house on a pond with a small boat and what looks like a water wheel. The painting is signed simply Walt.

C Magnus Oil Painting of Fortress With People

I found this little painting today at the Savers Thrift Store for $5. I am guessing it is an oil painting. It’s done on an 8″ x 10″ canvas. It seems to be some sort of fortress or castle. It’s signed “C Magnus” in the lower left hand corner.
