Antique Picture Frame with peeling paint

Antique Picture Frame with peeling paint showing gold

I bought this old frame today at a Goodwill for $3. It is made to hold a 14.25″ x 18″ picture. At some point it was painted over with brown paint, probably house paint, much of which has peeled off, leaving mostly bare wood. There is some gold color exposed under the peeling brown paint. Not sure it is was gilded, or was just painted gold. I am pretty sure it is paint. I used my multi-tester to see if the gold was conductive, but it didn’t seem to be. It should be pretty easy to clean up. Strip the old paint off. Then I will glue the corners which are a little loose. Then either paint it, maybe use gold leaf. Other than the paint, the frame is in pretty good shape.
