R. Thornton Watercolor/Gouache Painting Of Cottage and Girl With Ducks

I found this painting while visiting thrift stores in Buffalo, NY. At first, I thought it was a print, but after looking at it with my loupe, I realized it was an original. The painting is watercolor with gouache. It is framed and matted, but the visible portion of the painting measures about 21″ x 29.5″. This painting is larger than most of the others I have seen listed as being by this artist. I haven’t  found a ton of information about the artist. What I have found suggests he is a British artist that painted from the last decade of the 1800’s through early 1900’s. So this painting could be 100 years old. The painting was priced at $25. But due to the color of the tag was half off, so I only paid $12.50 plus tax. I have found listings of his paintings being sold at auction on one site for up to $875. And found one of his paintings sold at Christie’s, East for $2000.

Scalice Watercolor Painting Front Porch

I bought this painting at a Goodwill for $6. It is signed simply “Scalice”. I don’t know anything about the artist. The painting is matted and framed. The painting measures about 14″ x 20″.

W. Metzler Watercolor Painting with River, Trees and Colorful Flowers

This is the second of two paintings by W. Metzler that I found at a Goodwill in Buffalo, NY. They were $12 apiece. But I had $5 off as well. They appear to be watercolor and maybe some acrylic paint on paper. They came framed and double matted. The painting measures about about 17″ X 23″.

W. Metzler Watercolor Painting with Lake, Trees and Colorful Flowers

This is one of two paintings by W. Metzler that I found at a Goodwill in Buffalo, NY. The paintings each cost $12, but I had $5 off. It appears to be watercolor and maybe some acrylic paint on paper. If came framed and double matted. The painting measures about about 17″ X 23″.

Susan Lowans Watercolor Painting Pink Begonias

I found this painting at a Goodwill store for $7. It came matted and framed. The painting is signed S. Lowans. There is a card on the back labelling the painting as Pink Begonias. It also lists the artist’s name as S. Lowans. But searching the phone number on cards, I found a listing for a Susan H. Lowans. The card states “courtesy of Roselawn Galleries.” The phone number has an older area code, so this was painted a while back. I couldn’t find much about the artist other than she was local to the Rochester Area. It’s a very pretty painting. I like it. For some reason, I am reminded of Georgia O’Keeffe, but I don’t know why. I am thinking it’s the subtle shading of the flowers. With the skill of this painting, I am surprised I haven’t been able to find out more about the artist. She is obviously very talented.

M F Shanly Watercolor Painting Pink Rose In Clear Bowl

I found this watercolor painting at an Amvets thrift store for $6. It came matted and framed. The painting is signed M. F. Shanly. It’s very pretty.

Ellie Carbone Watercolor Painting With House, Lake, Trees And Flowers

I found this painting tonight at a Goodwill store for $9. The painting is signed Ellie Carbone. She also goes by Elinor Carbone. The painting is a watercolor and measures 9″ X 13″. It came matted and framed.

Marie L Allen still life watercolor painting

I found this painting at a Goodwill for $12. The painting is signed MLA 08. The artist’s full name is written on the back as Marie L. Allen. It is was probably done in 2008. It’s done in watercolor, but it looks like it possibly might have been touched up with acrylic paint. Not sure what kind of flowers those are in the vase. Maybe lilies of some sort. The fruit in the bowl look like pears. Then there is the bottle and the tea pot. Fairly common still life items. The painting measures 22″ x 27″.  It also came matted and framed, though the mat could probably be replaced.

R.H. Taylor watercolor painting of flowers

I bought this painting for $35. It is a fairly large watercolor painting measuring about 35″ x 20″. It came framed and matted, but could stand to be redone. The painting is signed R.H. Taylor. I was drawn to the painting by the fact that some of the flowers in the painting are the same kind my wife had in her wedding bouquet. So I thought she would like it.

Watercolor painting of potted daisies

I found this painting today. It’s a small watercolor painting of daisies in a terracotta pot. There is no signature that I can see. I even looked on the back. It’s very simple but only cost $1. And it came matted and framed. The painting is about 4.5″ x 6.5″.
