I stopped at several thrift stores today, and found two small oil paintings at a Salvation Army store. Both paintings were the same size, in indentical frames, and were of flowers in a vase. The first of the two paintings was the nicer of the two, and is signed Robert Cox. When I first read the name, I thought it was “Robert Lox”, but after searching around google, I figured out Robert Lox is actually Robert Cox.
Robert Cox is a listed artist and was apparently a prolific painter during the 70′s. One site I found says that he was born in 1934, and died in 2001. Every example of his paintings that I could find were of flowers in a vase. Apparently this was his favorite subject. This painting is very small and measures 5″x7″ and is painted on canvas board. The frame is nice and measures 10″x12″. The painting was marked at $1.99, but with the pink tag, it was half off, so it only cost me $1.00!
